4 Day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

Duration: 04 days and 03 nights

To present the wonders of the Machu Picchu Inca Trail it's impossible not to speak of our ancestors the Inca-rulers. Incas such as Pachacutec, Tupac Yupanqui or Huayna Capac were very important visionaries in changing political or religious structures or organizations and building archeological complexes. Such archeological sites are for example the Inca Trails, Machu Picchu, Choquequirao or Vilcabamba along the Inca trails, in the Cordillera of Vilcabamba.

This particular Inca Trail or Cápac Ñan will lead us along several archeological sites where of the importance will be increasing along our journey until we arrive at the majestic city of Machu Picchu (2400m) A mystically beautiful and untouched historical, religious and agricultural capital floating on the clouds.

This trek is an excellent way of appreciating the connection-road of the well-known Royal Inca Trail The one that will lead us through a huge garden with an enormous variety of orchids. Its river winds across the landscape and is known by the Incas as Willkamayu. It's there that the Incas build the city of Wiñayhuayna, an amazing place that seems to come straight out of some fairytale. From this point we'll walk up to Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu remains a breathtaking experience, not only because it was a spiritual, astronomic and agricultural center but because it's one of the largest, most beautiful and best preserved Inca-capitals and the only-one that has been untouched by occidental populations. The site whispers of mysterious secrets and lost knowledge for all those who are interested to listen. The city seems to float in the air and hide inside the clouds. The Machu Picchu-visit is perfect combination of pre-Columbian science and religion, a passionate history, beautiful sightseeing and a relaxing experience.

We'll leave the city of Cusco (3350m) in the morning in a tourist-bus through the Sacred Valley of the Incas with destination Km 82 (2600m). Here we'll start our trek and meet with the whole group that will accompany us on this adventure. Miskay (2700m) will be where we'll take our lunch and have a brief visit of the largest remaining ruins of Llactapata (2650m). Afterwards we'll continue until our campsite at Huayllabamba (3000m).

The morning we'll be hiking the toughest part of this trek, hiking upwards in the chilly morning-temperatures through the Valley of Llulluchapampa (3850m). We'll be climbing up to the highest point of this trek called the pass of Warmihuañusca (Dead Woman's Pass at 4200 meters). This will be an excellent spot to view the snow-peak of Mount Veronica and parts of the Inca Trail. After a short rest we'll walk downwards to the deepest part of the valley called Pacamayu (3500m) where we'll pass the night in our campsite.

We'll be trekking about 7 hours in a cold climate.

Included are our breakfast, lunch and diner.

3 rd Day - Pacaymayu - Chaquicocha - Wiñayhuayna

This will be a beautiful day, walking through different climates with a large variety of plants and flowers across the Inca Trail and between the different levels and climates of Piso Quechua and Yunga.

Nearby the ruins of Wiñayhuayna (Always Young) is situated our last campsite on this trek.

Shortly afterwards we'll be arriving at our goal where we'll have a guided tour of the ruins with a professional Machu Picchu-guide. After this guided tour you'll have a couple of hours to explore the ruins and surroundings by yourself and, for those who wish, to ascend Huayna Picchu or visit the Temple of the Moon nearby the ruins.
